This is our Story...

Sporting Gold Retrievers is a small kennel located in Northeast Wisconsin on the shores of Green bay. Our story is simple…we have a PASSION for Goldens!

Our enthusiasm began in 1989 with the purchase of our first pup, Boz. With a love for bird hunting, we had a “Need to Retrieve”. We chose a Golden simply based on its beauty. In time, we found training to seem almost effortless as Boz exhibited a never-ending amount of energy and an astonishing eagerness to please. The fun and excitement that he put in both work and play was contagious. The loyalty and love he showed for family was unlike any other. Our family of Golden’s has grown through the years and with each and every new member, the passion intensifies.

We began breeding to produce exceptional hunting companions, from a proven pedigree that we loved and could share with some of our fellow hunting cohorts. We choose our sires/dams with proven Field and Hunt Test champion bloodlines. You’ll find a long line of FC/AFC and MH titles in their pedigrees. In addition, we strive to breed from healthy bloodlines. All of our dogs have OFA certification on both hips and elbows and CERF and prcd-PRA certifications on their eyes. We only breed to dogs with those same certifications and require anyone wanting to breed to one of our dogs to also acquire those certifications. All our pups come with a 27 month health guarantee, dewclaws removed, first shots, and a minimum of two wormings.

We raise goldens more as a hobby, not a business. At present, we raise 1-2 litters per year. Each pup, in every litter is treated as our own until they are sent to their new family. Pups are guaranteed to be well socialized in an environment with adults, children, and other Goldens. They will spend plenty of time outdoors and be introduced to both birds and water, weather permitting. We play some very basic retrieving games and even try to start instilling some basic commands, such as sit (when giving a treat). We don’t claim to sell completely trained puppies, but we do everything we can to give them a strong start at becoming a well-mannered family companion that everyone will love!
